Not our last stay here!
For my birthday this year, my husband whisked me off to Yelapa, where we had stopped for one day while on a cruise last year. I highly recommend taking advantage of the money-changing recommendations, transportation to and from the airport to PV and from Puerta Vallarta to Yelapa arranged by Randy, house manager. It was smooth all the way, and you will meet some interesting characters! Our apartment was clean, bright and airy, with fabulous kitchen. We loved the sound of the waves at night - why would one come all that way and wear ear plugs? The apartment was other wise very quiet, a feature that is very important to me. No one was above us during our stay, but I think the concrete block construction would have eliminated any noise problem, had there been other guests. We couldn't resist using the free wifi, although the entire city was without power for almost 24 hour; no one seemed to be disturbed, and the beach front restaurants were open, as they had alternate power sources.

Laid Back in Yelapa
We booked a vacation to Yelapa on the spur of the moment after reading about Randy and Judy Sonstelie in Our Canada magazine. We followed alot of the suggestions they had made in the "getting here" section of there website, from having Hugo pick us up at the airport and take us to the dock at Los Muertos,booking a couple of trips with Yelapa adventures and dining suggestions. Everything went smoothly and we had a great vacation. the village,the food and the accomodations were all to our likng. Randy and Judy even did some banking for us (thank you again). The pictures do not lie. We will definitely be returning.

Comfortable "Home away from home"
After much internet research, my husband and I settled on Mar Y Sol Villas for our Christmas visit to Yelapa. We are so happy with our choice! This was our first visit to Yelapa other than a day trip, but we knew we wanted to stay somewhere that felt worlds away, with a small community, great weather, and friendly folks. We found what we wanted! The town is magnificent, with many great things to do as well as plenty of comfortable places to while away the day with a good book and a cold drink in the sun. Randy & Judy have done a great job with this place! The decoration is wonderful, the colors & design are comforting and appealing as soon as you walk in. The casa had everything we needed in the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, with wine glasses, cookware, and more. Very comfortable king sized beds in the rooms (and the bedrooms are larger than they appear in the photographs!) We were staying with my parents and younger single sister who slept on the sofa bed - this is an open space without any walls, which is a good thing to know when booking, but the bedrooms were private and comfortable. We fell asleep listening to the waves and didn't mind the sound of the ocean, but they can get loud and you might want ear plugs if this would bother you. The location is prime, set into the hillside with fabulous views of the beach, bay, and jungle. Quick walk into town for laundry or smaller local restaurants, also a fairly easy walk to the beach for the more touristy restaurants with beach loungers. His rooftop deck is fabulous as well, a place to enjoy the view, listen to music, or cook up some fresh seafood on the grill. You need to know what you're renting, which is a house rather than a hotel. They do offer maid service, per the website, which we did not use but we spent time cleaning our own dishes and changing the linen during our 10 day stay (Randy provided clean linens halfway through). It's one of the nicer casas in town but it's not a luxury resort. The one thing we noticed is that there was a bit of dust/lint on some items (dishes, glasses, etc) but this was solved with a quick rinse. Randy checked in with us almost every day to see how things were going, and was working hard as his wife Judy was in Canada visiting her family. He had answers for all of our questions and was super friendly. He arranged for someone to meet us at the dock to help with our luggage and find the property - by the way, Yelapa is so small it is very easy to find the place and you won't get lost. We went snorkeling with Jay, which he helped to organize, and saw Humpack Whales breaching!! We can't wait to visit Yelapa again and would love to stay in this same unit.

Stunning apartment right above the ocean!
We just loved our stay at Casa Tonielle! We are a family with a toddler and we met up with another couple, we were all super comfortable. Randy even provided a cot for our little one. We have traveled, renting apartments, all over the world and this was the best equipped kitchen I had the pleasure to use... an oven in Mexico?! Not to mention the best view too, my goodness! We got to watch pelicans, vultures, stingrays, and even saw whales breeching right from the comforts of our open air patio. Randy also provided assistance with every single step of the way from the airport to the front door of our apartment, and then some. His guy even took us the the grocery store the first night we arrived so we would have food that night. Can't say enough good stuff really, we hope to return here one day!!

Has anyone stayed at Mar Y Sol

My wife and I stayed there last march and had a wonderful time. I think the Mar y Sol has the best spot in all of Yelapa. It is in between the town and the beach. Be prepared to do quite a bit of walking. We were a little out of shape and were sore the first couple of days from walking up and down the paths of Yelapa. The owners are very helpful and I think they are actually own in Yelapa now. From what I understand they are going to add a third floor to the casa. We stayed on the second level which was the top at the time and enjoyed a cold beer on the patio overlooking the ocean every afternoon. There are many good places to eat in Yelapa and our personal favorite was Tacos y Mas. Be sure and try the avacodo pie. On another note, you have to remember that Yelapa is a very "Old" town and is quite rustic so if you are looking for 5 star accomidations then this isn't the place. If you want to meet some nice people and see some wonderful scenery then you have found a home.

Has anyone stayed at Mar Y Sol

We had no problems getting there. We took a boat from Muertos pier and arrived A OK. I personally loved Yelapa and you can see a few pictures of our vacation there on the owners web site under Bret and Sandi's pictures link. Keep in mind that we do not know them and it was our first trip to Yelapa and I can honestly say that when we go back we will stay at the same place again with no worries. Not sure what the construction is like right now but e-mail the owners and I am sure they will let you know. From there website it says they should be done with the top level before you get there so if not I am sure they will take care of you. The pictures of the place are as advertised so don't worry. As far as groceries, we took advantage of the little shop in town about 2 minutes walk away for some snacks and everything else we ate out at a very good reasonable price.

Mar Y Sol Yelapa
My Partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Mar y Sol three weeks ago in November. The suite is lovingly cared for by Randy and Judy and they will be happy to help you with whatever you need. The Casa is in the center of the village, best location! The bed was comfortable and the rooms exceptionally clean. We enjoyed the wrap around balcony with panaramic views of the beach and ocean, in fact we spend 90% of our time on the balcony. Best of all there is high speed internet and satellite TV! We are dreaming of returning again next year.

Fishing with Yelapa Adventures

A day with YELAPA ADVENTURES Gerardo and Jay really know what they are doing and how to catch fish. They speak good English have 3 nice boats and go out of their way to make sure you have a great day...... thanks guys .... oh yeh the day was very successful ... lots of big fish.

Island Tour and Snorkeling with Yelapa Adventures

My husband and I just returned from a week long stay in Yelapa and we loved everything about it. From our accommodations (Mar Y Sol) to the food (we ate at a different restaurant every night and bought our own groceries), the beach combing. The highlights for us were no time share salespeople, no buses, no cars, NO SNOW.
We got to do enough shopping at the beach vendors and on the walk to the waterfall that were were satisfied with what we got. The major highlight of our week was a boat trip with Jay and Gerardo from YELAPA ADVENTURES. These two gentlemen took real good care of us. Jay, the son, is an awesome young man. He speaks very good English and was able to answer any and all questions from our group. They took us out to the islands to the bird sanctuary - blue footed boobies and we got to do some snorkeling and beach combing as well. Lunch and drinks were provided. We did see a school (?) of dolphins and Jay and Gerardo did their best to entice them to come closer but no such luck. It was exciting though. We later ran into Jay working at our restaurant of choice for dinner. He made a point of coming over to see us and made sure we had everything we needed. A very special young man who will do well in his life.

It was Spectacular

I thought my stay in Yelapa was amazing! It truly was like going back to the old Mexico. The air is so fresh and clean from there being NO cars. That must have been one of my most favorite things. The service was fantastic. Randy and Judy were more then accommodating, if there was something that I needed I was able to get it. They were also very knowledgeable about the area so finding things wasn't difficult at all. The location was great, too. Ocean front view with the beach and shopping just a 5 min walk. The Villa itself was gorgeous, and clean. I loved the bright Mexican colors. Also, I can't complain about the huge king-sized bed. It made ending a day at the beach very enjoyable!

These accomodations are great. Good beds, rustic, but well-equipped kitchen. Good access to everything in Yelapa. Gigantic deck overlooking Yelapa bay, furnished with deck chairs, tables, hammock, day bed and well stocked library. We will be back! Everything you need to drop out of civilization for a couple of days. Great restaurants in Yelapa!

Mar y Sol Villas

Our accommodations were everything we were led to believe they would be. Randy & Judy as caretakers were wonderful,helpful,knowledgeable and fun to be around. The restaurants offered a wide variety of tasty delightful food and the fact that we could buy our own groceries and cook at "home" was a bonus for us. The whole week were in Yelapa was a treat - no semis, no cars, no planes and best ofr all no snow. We are definately thinking of next winter.

Mar y Sol

This made my second trip to Yelapa, Mexico and when I stepped on the town pier I felt like I had come home. I love this place! We stayed at Mar y Sol for 13 wonderful days. Randy and Judy Sonstelie welcome you with open arms and immediately makes you feel at home. They very courteously arrange any excursion one might want to do. The casa is clean, spacious, and sits right on the water. Each night you fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing against the rocks and wake to the sounds of birds and the waves. My only regret is that I could not stay longer. Can hardly wait for my next stay.

To Die For
My wife and I were delighted with the brand new addition of Casa Toniele. The weather, the view, the hospitality from Randy and Judy were all 5 Stars. The daily fresh giant avocados from the tree next door were the green frosting on the cake. This was my first return to Yelapa in thirty-five years. It was worth every moment and every dollar/peso to make the trip. We will be back soon. Our hosts were wonderful.

"Excellent Stay at Casa Tonielle-- best location in Yelapa"
We just finished a 5 night stay at Mar-y-Sol/Casa Tonielle and thought it was fantastic. The place is beautiful (new construction?) and we found that it was just like the pictures on the owner's web-site. We thought it offers the best location in Yelapa and is probably the nicest facility: it is right on the water with a wonderful open-air patio & dining area, is a very short walk to the beach, and is right on the edge of town so many dining options are easily accessbile. My wife & I both agreed that we liked this location best of anything we saw in Yelapa, especially since it's on the water. Randy (the owner) met us at the Pier, as promised, when we arrived and was an excellent host thoughout our stay-- he arranged for us to rent horses, made arrangements to rent a boat to Marrietas, and provided great restaurant recommendations. Yelapa itself was wonderful and we look forward to renting this unit again for a return visit!

Wonderful Property and Location
Spent a week in Yelapa in early april and can't wait to go back. Stayed at Casa Tassia overlooking the Yelapa Bay. The property is perfect for two people with good living, kitchen and bedroom space. It has all the comforts of home with close access to great restaurants, the beach and stores for any required supplies. The host and hostess, Randy and Judy, are there if you need any information or assistance. I'd highly recommend this property and others that they oversee to anyone wanting a relaxing and pleasent stay in "Old Mexico".
