H1N1 Flu in Yelapa and Puerto Vallarta
H1N1 Flu in Yelapa and Puerto Vallarta

Although the scare created by the media about Swine Flu has subsided significantly. The truth still needs to be reiterated to show people how badly this "Infodemic" has affected us all.

This letter and video (we received from PVR), is for our guests and all our friends who love Puerto Vallarta, Yelapa and Mexico.

Hola Amigos y Amigas

I hope this note finds you well,  As you have probably seen, read and heard, there has been a tidal wave of bad publicity about Mexico and it has brought -- unfairly so -- Vallarta and Mexico to its knees.  Businesses are closing, jobs are being lost, flights are empty or being cancelled, because the media has made people so afraid to come here.  Cruise ships won't come near this country. Yes, we all have to be careful to always keep ourselves healthy and strong, but we also need to face reality.

Without jobs, people have no money to buy food to feed their families, and all for a flu that in relation to the normal scheme of things is tiny.  This year it's expected 36,000 people in the US will die of the regular flu.  Where is that coverage? But CNN and Fox and many other networks were more concerned with getting the world to focus on Mexico for the epicenter of what they painted as a worldwide plague. As of today, 48 people in the entire country have died. As of this past weekend, there were more cases in the US than Mexico. They've destroyed people's lives.  And it could -- will --take years for this country to recuperate.

Here is a view of real people -- tourists who "braved" coming here -- giving their honest thoughts about being here during the H1N1 'swine flu' period, when basically the world has quarantined Mexico.  Again, we don't condone being reckless with health; warnings and advisories can keep people safe. But what's happened with the media new coverage has been over and above anything imaginable. Mexico has gone to extraordinary lengths to combat the spread of the virus, completely shutting down schools, almost entire cities, businesses.  All to try to combat what has been painted as the risk almost (our words here) tantamount to a pervasive plague.

FYI - According to these "Facts" there were very few confirmed cases of H1N1 Flu in the Puerto Vallarta area and the threat was been greatly exagerated by the media.

Here is the video we were sent; it's a good one to share "Swine Flu ?"
